Kotitalousopetus – valmiuksia nuorten arkeen ja muuttuvaan maailmaan

The development of home economics pedagogy in primary school, adult education and higher education has been the focus of the Food, Culture and Learning research group at the University of Helsinki's Faculty of Education, led by Professor Päivi Palojoki, for decades. The book Kotitalousopetus – valmiuksia nuorten arkeen ja muuttuvaan maailmaan (Home Economics Education – Young People’s preparedness for Everyday Life and a Changing World), which is now being published, celebrates Professor Palojoki's long career and anniversary.

The book is based on decades of cooperation in teacher education in home economics between Finland, Sweden and Estonia. On the one hand, the articles in the book examine starting points and practices in accordance with the new curriculum for the teaching of home economics, and on the other hand, the teaching is examined from a historical perspective. The book is divided into three parts so that the first part contains articles in Finnish, the second in Swedish and the third in English. The book will be published online first, and the print publication will be available later.
