Author Guidelines

Tampere University Press welcomes submissions from all scholars, regardless of affiliation or country of origin. TUP is an institutionally subsidised Open Access publisher with no Book Processing Charges.

Tampere University Press publishes scholarly monographs and edited volumes in Finnish, English and Swedish. We are interested in original manuscripts on topical issues in the fields of social sciences and humanities. We do not publish, for example, general non-fiction, teaching materials, biographical Festschrifts, or works previously published elsewhere in the same form.

    *Please note that we cannot provide language editing by a native speaker for manuscripts in English or Swedish.

How to publish with TUP?

When your manuscript is finished, 
1. fill in the proposal form (Microsoft Forms, change language by clicking on the globe icon). Then,
2. log in or register a new Edition.fi user account, and
3. submit your book manuscript.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The manuscript has not been previously published elsewhere or submitted to another publisher at the same time.
  • The authors/editors of the work have familiarised themselves with the publisher's profile and guidelines before submitting the manuscript.
  • Illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. The original source of the images must be named if the creator is someone other than the author.
  • References follow the APA 7 style. Where available, DOIs or URLs have been included in the reference lists.
  • The entire manuscript is submitted as one Microsoft Word, RTF, or OpenDocument file. The manuscript should not be anonymised before submission. You can also attach an additional anonymised version of the manuscript – this will speed up the processing of the manuscript.
  • The authors acknowledge and consent to the manuscript being checked with plagiarism detection software prior to peer review. (The manuscript will not be saved in the service provider’s database.)

Copyright Notice

If the work is accepted for publication, the authors grant the publisher the right to publish a printed and electronic version of the book, which is licensed under a Creative Commons license chosen by the authors. Authors will retain the right to make their work available elsewhere (e.g. an open repository or a published translation), but credit and permanent link (DOI) to the original publication must be given.
