Grifos

3 nimikettä

Grifos sets out to be a place that encourages problematising, and where valid questions are equally important to readily available answers. It is an open access, fully electronic publication series by the Finnish Institute at Athens established in 2022, with the aim to offer a flexible publication channel to publish scholarly works relatively quickly compared to the Institute’s traditional print pressed Papers and Monographs of the Finnish Institute at Athens (PMFIA). Grifos welcomes studies from all fields of the scholarly scope of the Institute, which promotes the study of Greek history, archaeology, language, literature and culture from ancient times to the present day. The Publication Committee of Grifos considers for publication also shorter scholarly studies than traditional book-length monographs. In addition to thematic studies, Grifos consider for publication detailed archaeological reports, commented literary translations, scholarly-based exhibition catalogues as well as collections of articles based on the conferences and workshops organised or held under the premises of the Finnish Institute at Athens.

Grifos is a peer-reviewed publication. The pre-publications process after the submission of contributions consists of three stages (see details at https://finninstitute.gr/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/grifos-notes-to-contributors-2024.pdf): 1) Committee readings initial screening decides whether a manuscript may proceed to the peer-reviewing process, 2) peer review by two anonymous reviewers who submit their anonymous reports to the Editor in Chief, 3) Final decision by the Publication Committee and information on the process to the author, including the peer-review reports.
